About Us

The mission of the Independent Funeral Directors Association of Texas, Inc (IFDA) is to cultivate and promote the art and science of the funeral service profession; to elevate and sustain the professional character and education of funeral directors and embalmers; to promote communications, good will and mutual improvement; to protect the health and welfare of the general public; to encourage the advancement of all facts of funeral service; to extend any assistance necessary in offering service in individual cases of actual hardship; to encourage the enacting and enforcing of proper and just law relative to funeral and burial practices within the State of Texas; to represent and safeguard the common interests of its members and to foster and cooperate and deal fairly with other funeral directors.

The Independent Funeral Directors of Texas Association is a professional association, first established in 1933. The Independent Funeral Directors Association of Texas Inc. members is a association of Texas professional funeral directors and morticians, whose members and members-at-large are also members of Local and District, State and National associations of funeral directors and morticians dedicated to promoting the common professional and business interest of its members.

​IFDA of Texas is not organized for profit or for participation with the common purpose of accruing profit. No part of any net earnings of the Association inure to the benefit or are distributed to its individual members, officers, directors or to other private individuals except that the Association is authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth in the Articles of Incorporation. Notwithstanding any other provision of the By-Laws, the Association does not carry on any other activities prohibited for an association exempt from.
